Actually, I am mostly known for my accidental skill at making every meal be bread and wearing clothes that could also be tapestries.
Most days you can find me drinking my weight in coffee and hanging with my trusty side kick Mischief the Cat (see below for actual photographic proof).
I love bringing joy into the world through the little things I make, find, and discover. I think trinkets and tokens can be harbingers of good luck and happiness if they are bought (or gifted!) with the right intention.
I create pieces for people who are totally into finding happiness in the little things, who like to stop and smile at the flowers. I am lucky to have the ability to share these things with my friends and family, and now you!
As an artist in NYC I have been blessed to come across and appreciate buckets of other people in the creative world and occasionally get to work with them and share their works here!
When I'm not busy with kirastinystudio you can find me in my tiny kitchen playing with new recipes and flavors, trying to make the staples more interesting! Also, I love to make as many different kinds of pancakes as I can. Life goal, always beat my last batch.
I had a pretty damaging childhood that left me making some not so good life choices and marrying a not so good guy. My creativity was always laughed at or shoved into a corner somewhere. So. When an opportunity came for me to leave that situation I realized how much life I hadn't been living. I was trained as a painter, and was unable to paint. I would start sweating and my heart would start going nutso (technical term). I was feeling like I had all this in me and I couldn't articulate it.
A friend left the place we worked at together to pursue a job at a gemstore and he started making bracelets. I wanted to try that as well. I found that by approaching making and doing, it didn't matter what the end product was the important part was the release of creative happiness into the world. I decided after my first piece was finished that I wanted to make more happy things to share. I invested in my self and left my full time job to work on kirastinystudio in the summer of 2017. I have picked up an old painting I started about 8 years ago and I have restarted it. I feel more like myself. I am healing and trying new things.
(thanks for reading this whole way!)
